Cambodia Casinos

[ English ]

There is a fascinating history to the Cambodia casinos that reside just over the dividing line from nearby Thailand, where casino gambling is against the law. Eight casinos are situated in a generally tiny area in the metropolis of Poipet in Cambodia. This collection of Cambodia gambling halls is in a prime location, a 3 to 4 hour travel from Bangkok and Macao, the two biggest wagering centers in Asia. Cambodia casinos do a thriving business with Thai laborers and tourists from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with just a few Westerners. The amazing capital gained from the gambling dens ranges from seven and a half million dollars to over 12.5 million dollars, and there are a number of controls constraints for casino ownership. Ownership is assumed to be mostly Thai; however, investment sources are ambiguous. The borders are formally open from 09:00 to 5:00 p.m., and despite the fact visas are for all intents and purposes necessary to cross, there are means around this, as is correct of many borders.

The 1st Cambodia casinos premiered in Phnom Penh in 1994, but were forced to close in 1998, leaving only a single casino in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, an anchored boat gambling hall, contains 150 slots and 60 tables. The Naga gambling den is open all hours with forty two tables of mini-baccarat banque, 4 tables of 21, 10 of roulette, 2 of Caribbean Stud Poker, and 1 each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.

The initial gambling hall in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, premiered in 1999 and the Golden Crown before long followed. A total of one hundred and fifty one armed bandits and five tables at the Golden Crown and 104 one armed bandits and sixty eight table games at the Holiday Palace. The newer Holiday Palace Casino and Resort contains three hundred slots and seventy gaming tables and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has one hundred and sixty six slot machines and ninety six gaming tables, including eighty seven punto banco (the most popular game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. In addition, there is the Casino Tropicana, with 135 slots and sixty six of the familiar table games, as well as a single table of Casino Stud Poker. Another one of the 8 gambling halls in Poipet, also in a hotel, is the Princess Casino with one hundred and sixty six slot machines and 97 casino games. The Star Vegas Casino is part of an all-around resort and hotel building that highlights numerous comforts accompanying the gambling den, which houses ten thousand sq.ft. of one hundred and thirty slot machines and 88 table games.
