Cambodia Casinos

[ English ]

There is a fascinating background to the Cambodia casinos that reside just across the dividing line from nearby Thailand, where gambling hall gaming is illegal. Eight gambling dens are anchored in a relatively tiny space in the metropolis of Poipet in Cambodia. This group of Cambodia gambling halls is in a perfect location, a three to four hour trip from Bangkok and Macao, the 2 biggest wagering locations in Asia. Cambodia casinos do a thriving business with Thai workers and tourists from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with only very few Westerners. The amazing capital gained from the gambling halls ranges from 7.5 million dollars to over twelve and a half million dollars, and there are a number of restrictions constraints for casino ownership. Ownership is presumed to be largely Thai; still, financial sources are vague. The borders are ceremoniously open from 09:00 to 1700, and although visas are for all intents and purposes required to pass, there are means around this, as is real of many border crossings.

The 1st Cambodia gambling dens premiered in Phnom Penh in the mid nineties, but were required to close in the late nineties, leaving only a single casino in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a moored boat gambling hall, highlights one hundred and fifty slots and sixty table games. The Naga gambling hall never closes with forty two tables of mini-baccarat chemin de fer, four tables of 21, ten of roulette, two of Caribbean Stud Poker, and one each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.

The first gambling hall in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, opened in 1999 and the Golden Crown before long followed. A total of 150 one armed bandits and 5 table games at the Golden Crown and one hundred and four slots and 68 gaming tables at the Holiday Palace. The newer Holiday Palace Casino and Resort features 300 slot machines and 70 tables and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has 166 one armed bandits and ninety six gaming tables, including eighty seven punto banco (the most dominant game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. Also, there is the Casino Tropicana, with one hundred and thirty five one armed bandits and 66 of the normal tables, as well as one table of Casino Stud Poker. Another one of the eight casinos in Poipet, again a part of a hotel, is the Princess Casino with one hundred and sixty six one armed bandits and ninety seven games. The Star Vegas Casino is is located in an all-inclusive vacation and hotel compound that highlights numerous luxuries on top of the gambling den, which contains ten thousand square feet of one hundred and thirty one armed bandits and 88 gaming tables.
