Cambodia Gambling Dens
There is an interesting story to the Cambodia gambling dens that sit just across the dividing line from neighboring Thailand, where gambling den wagering is not allowed. Eight gambling dens are anchored in a relatively small location in the metropolis of Poipet in Cambodia. This band of Cambodia gambling dens is in an excellent spot, a 3 to four hour drive from Bangkok and Macao, the two largest gaming centers in Asia. Cambodia gambling halls do a huge business with Thai laborers and visitors from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with only very few Westerners. The amazing income accrued from the gambling halls ranges from 7.5 million dollars to more than 12.5 million, and there are a couple of controls constraints for gambling den ownership. Ownership is presumed to be largely Thai; although, investment sources are vague. The borders are formally open from 9:00 a.m. to 1700, and despite the fact visas are allegedly necessary to pass, there are ways around this, as is real of many border crossings.
The 1st Cambodia casinos premiered in Phnom Penh in 1994, but were required to close in 1998, leaving only 1 gambling den in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, an anchored ship casino, features one hundred and fifty slot machines and 60 table games. The Naga casino is open all day and night with forty two tables of mini-punto banco, 4 tables of twenty-one, 10 of roulette, 2 of Caribbean Stud Poker, and a single table each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.
The initial casino in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, premiered in the late nineties and the Golden Crown quickly followed. A total of 150 slots and five table games at the Golden Crown and one hundred and four one armed bandits and 68 table games at the Holiday Palace. The newest Holiday Palace Casino and Resort contains three hundred one armed bandits and seventy tables and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has 166 slots and 96 table games, including eighty seven baccarat (the most popular game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. Additionally, there is the Casino Tropicana, with 135 slot machines and sixty six of the common gaming tables, as well as 1 table of Casino Stud Poker. One more of the eight gambling halls in Poipet, again in a motel, is the Princess Casino with one hundred and sixty six one armed bandits and 97 table games. The Star Vegas Casino is part of an all-around resort and hotel building that contains many amenities on top of the gambling den, which contains ten thousand square feet of one hundred and thirty slots and 88 table games.
